Finally, we arrived at Abuello's. We get inside, and this place is packed! It will take about 30 minutes for them to seat us. So, the nice hostess hands us the little square-lighty-uppy-beeper-thingy (What are those called?), and we walk back outside.
BUT! Instead of sitting there being chilly and bored while they find a table for us, Kip decides to take me on a little side adventure. Across the street from the parking lot in front of Abuelo's, there was this little grocery store with all this health-nut food. Perfect for our 20-minute getaway!
And by street, I mean 7 lanes of zooming cars.
Kip's poor hand was nearly purple by the time we finished our run across the street, I was gripping so tightly. But, we made it. Despite the traffic and life's significant lack of a right-trigger=magic rule.
Once we were done playing Human Frogger, we waltzed into the store and began a self-led tour. We came across some friends of ours from church, some heart-shaped, pink-and-purple noodles (CUTE!!), and some--get this--Super-Fancy Cream Soda!! Awesome. And Usurped.
After paying for our mana-boosting beverage, Kip and I knew we had to brave the 7-lane street again. So, back we went across the street, through the parking lot, to Kip's hot rod Toyota to drop off the cream soda, and into the restaurant with our SLUBT beeping and buzzing all the way. We turned in our SLUBT and were swiftly shown to our seats, and greeted by our waiter.
And then we proceeded to enjoy THE best Americanized-Mexican meal EVER! I mean, really. De-Lish. Yummo. AND There were left-overs.
So, Kip and I are trying to walk while we're bloated with food and holding the rest in our little boxes of tastiness. However, rather than holding the leftovers in my lap in the car, we decided, based on previous experiences, that it would be MUCH safer to put the boxes in the back. Thanks, babe.
And off we went! The sunset had settled into dusk, which had settled into twilight, and twilight invited the night to shine her stars as we rode on to our next adventure!
To Be Continued...
